hi! i'm bella grace finck.
big fan of numbers and logic puzzles, particularly big fan of problems that fall at the intersection of the two.
here's some stuff i've been working on.
female dogs
with the rise in generalized behavior analytics (i.e. Spotify Wrapped, the greatest intern project of all time), i am forced to engage with constant analysis of my own decisionmaking. at the time of this project, i had just come to the realization that my music taste was made up almost entirely of female artists, even in genres that are steeped in mascunline precedent, like hip hop. in what was both a continuation of my fascination with gender studies and a curiosity about why my taste was so heavily skewed, i performed a lyrical analysis of 20 of the most prolific hip hop artists of the most recent decades to see the differences in language between male and female rap artists.
hollywood director network
before i discovered that i could get paid for doing math (thank yooouuuu data science!), my dream was to be an actress. most of my non-technical time is spent consuming pop culture and scrolling through IMDB pages to better familiarize myself with the actors on my screen. it's an obsession partially driven by my need to be competitive in a trivia setting and partially driven by my obsession with social networks. in my capstone class in college, Network Analysis, i was given the opportunity to investigate the dense web of Hollywood by analyzing the careers of directors and their crew members.
